587 Humps' wrecked Chrysler after a great show in heat one

One less for heat two which started with 737 Paul Tagg walling 274 Giggler only for the former to get stuffed along with 752 Mad Sam by Girling as we witnessed an awesome pit bend crash with 262 Buster Godden rolling 45 Terry Tibbs' Volvo 240 and launching himself up and over the latter, the Incarace man standing his car on his nose in epic fashion. The reds came out but not before Freestone blasted 304 Dale Rainer (XJ) as 14 Babyface hit 106 Bumper head-on only to have his hearse trashed by 80 Matt Allman (Volvo 740 estate). The race restarted with Girling attacking Vincent before Goffin belted the spun Freestone on the nose and we had a cracking wrecking train. Peanut then fired into Porky setting the latter up for a head-on from Ellis as Dino fired up the back of the hearse and 2-Bonb blasted the Conquest. Just 26 qualifiers returned for the final which was very quiet in the early laps although 813 Mayhem leaned Mansfield in hard and Palmer had a go at Rosey before Dave Lewis put away Vincent and Ruskin did the same to Ballard before a spinning 131 Wadey was caught in the door by Davies. 338 Terry Garrod (Volvo 740) then attacked Ruskin with Vincent then burying them both with Freestone turning round for a pop at the PRI man firing him up to deliver two massive hits on the Yank on consecutive laps. Davies then put away Jimbo and Mad Mace as Dave Lewis attacked Mansfield's Beamer which in turn allowed Davies to tag Winchester. A lively conclusion saw Jimbo T-bone Vincent against the flow as Cruncher landed a stonking hit on Mansfield with Mushy also weighing in on the latter as Vincent turned round to repay the favour on Jimbo with a head-on. Pete Lewis took the flag from Cruncher and Dave Lewis with Ruskin scooping the entertainer loot.

The Accumulator had the biggest grid of the night with 37 cars. Smith hit Tramp on the nose early allowing Girling to T-bone the latter allowing Smith to blast the rated Snipe but he copped it from 814 Mark Millen (XJ) as Tramp dished out a hard jacking to Girling. Lee then fired into Lethal Weapon as Tramp hit Girling again while Wrecked Reg scored on Pockets' Merc as Outhwaite scored on Weeks before Pockets fired back against Wrecked Reg as 313 Cully gave Smith a solid hit. The leading Dibble then started his show by burying Wrecked Reg and Mushy with White then hitting the TSR man on the nose as Cully attacked Mushy on opposite before Herb hammered White. Dibble then threw his lead away to hit Herb in a stiff head-on with Mushy then enjoying a couple of head-ons with the former silencing his P5 before the English champ went to blow up White and finished the latter's XJ with a couple more hits. Vincent beat Dave Lewis in a decent race to the line with Mark Millen the only other finisher, Dibble taking the entertainer prize.

20 repaired in time for the demo which started in frantic style as Holmes blasted Bazza and Mark Millen as Basham took a head-on from Mad Joe and a shot from the rear from Mouse. Mansfield hit Ashman on the nose as Mark Millen hit Bazza while Garrod T-boned Mansfield, the latter shrugging it off to score on Bazza which sent the Conquest into a complete roll with Dibble the hitting the latter on the nose. Mark Millen and Mushy met in similar fashion allowing Kamikaze to blast the Ant Hill Mob man as Dove Toe Joe blasted Dibble. Kamikaze hit Mushy on the nose as Mad Sam silenced 140 Sass and Mark Millen hit Dove Toe Joe's well used Seville head-on, the latter firing back for hits on Kamikaze and Mushy with the latter two then meeting head-on finishing Mushy. Kamikaze and Dove Toe Joe then enjoyed some stiff head-ons before expiring to wrap up a storming night's action with a dead heat. 550 Cookie took the hardest trier award for getting his leathered Granada back out for the demo and Mad Sam the most devastating driver prize for a couple of lively shows.
