MEETING INTRODUCTION

Following the incredible success of last season's One Wild Weekend we are now looking forward to another action packed weekend of racing this summer at Mildenhall Stadium offering some the very best full contact motor racing RDC has to offer

The 2009 event was history in the making at Mildenhall Stadium as for the first time in the history of RDC Promotions we saw National Banger racing, Saloon Stockcars and BriSCA F2 Stockcars in action on the same card. This magical format returns again in 2012 and once again it will be the only time this season you will see these three superb formulas at the same time at Mildenhall. And better yet you have the opportunity to enjoy this dream triple header not once...but twice.

This has the makings of being an essential weekend for all fans of full contact motorsport as well as being a great social event for all concerned with the party starting Friday night at 7.30pm with the traditional greyhound meeting at the stadium and everyone planning to attend this weekend meeting is invited to start your weekend early by joining us for the dogs on Friday.

Despite the grand status of being our main weekend event of the season at RDC, all three formulas are essentially racing in 'domestic' meetings and therefore we are keeping the dedicated section of the site a bit more minimal than some of the others we have during the course of the year in a bid to try and maintain our trademark 'no hype needed' motto as we firmly believe this is one weekend which truly does speak for itself.

But while this may not be the most important meetings of the season for any of the formulas there is still an awful lot to make this a crucial two days of racing and hopefully a popular weekend. For the National Bangers it is the third annual 2Litre all RWD meeting and the final round of the new RWD series prior to the Grand Final in September. Furthermore we also have the National Banger version of the Suffolk Open Championship which became a non Mondeo/Cougar event in 2010 with great success and this remains the case this year. The Saloon Stockcars battle on their action packed track championship with the last chance for drivers to put themselves in position to win the latest round in the £1,000 Dash for Cash series on Sunday. Finally the BriSCA F2 Stockcars make their long awaited return to Mildenhall for their first outing here since May. The highlight of their weekend will be their World of Shale qualifying round on the Sunday.

However hopefully despite its 'basic-ness', this section of the site will address all the important points and provide you with everything you need to know for the weekend. As always if there is any information you cannot find please contact us through the usual channels. Contact detail information can be found at the bottom under general meeting information.

NATIONAL BANGERS

Banger racing will play a large part of the weekend with 2litre banger action on both days of the weekend, albeit under very different formats.

Saturday (July 28, 6pm) is RDC's fourth annual 2litre all rear wheel drive meeting while Sunday (July 29, 1.30pm) plays host to the National Banger Suffolk Open Championship which will once again be run to an 1800cc limit with a ban on Ford Mondeos and Cougars. However any 2Litre RWD car from the previous night (or indeed a fresh 2L RWD car which could have been raced on the Saturday) will be allowed to take part. It is our hope that this format will encourage more drivers to race a car which survives Saturday again on Sunday and also create a somewhat different title race at Mildenhall with a greater variety of cars for a National Banger event.

We are presently trying to assemble an entry list for this meeting but as always, please treat these lists as a guide only as booking in for the majority of RDC meetings is not a necessity. All drivers will be welcome during the weekend and drivers who would like to book in can do so through the usual channels. (these can be found under contact details at the bottom of the page.

2Litre all RWD Bangers Saturday July 28
This meeting is open to any 2litre RWD car except Granadas and large Volvos (240,740,940 series but 340s are OK). 2Litre Ford engine transplants are allowed with prior permission from RDC (other engine swaps may be considered by drivers must get permission first) but no 4WD convertions on cars which are traditionally FWD, ie Sierras are ok but Mondeos are not.

1800cc Bangers Suffolk Open Championship Sunday July 29
This meeting is open to all 1800cc bangers except Ford Mondeos and Cougars. However any 2Litre RWD car which was or could have been raced the previous night may be used as well. We would also like to point out that we intend to make the first heat a RWD only race. However this is dependent on numbers and if there are not sufficient cars to run the race as RWD only we will try to put all the RWD cars in heat one and top the race up with FWD cars to balance the numbers out in the qualifying heats.

SALOON STOCKCARS

Often replicated...never duplicated
Beware of cheap imitations...accept no substitutes...this is the real deal

For many fans the combination of Saloon Stockcar racing and Mildenhall Stadium is the perfect mix and we have seen several times this year what this combination can produce with some of the roughest, toughest, hardest and fastest stockcar racing in the sport.

During One Wild Weekend we will enjoy two days of this combination and while there is no championship title up for grabs there are still track championship points available on both days culminating in the fourth round of this season's £1,000 Dash for Cash series which will be open to all drivers with a top finish over the course of the weekend

Please visit www.saloonstockcars.com for news on the expected entry for this meeting

£1,000 Dash for Cash Series Round 4

The final race of the weekend for the Saloon Stockcars will be the fourth round of this season's £1,000 Dash for Cash Series. Any driver who registers a top eight finish in any heat race during the weekend or a top 10 finish in a final on either day will qualify alongside any previous dash for cash winner this.

Once again it will be a winner take all affair, the winner collecting £100 plus a place in all remaining dash races this season including the jackpot final where should they triumph they will win the £500 jackpot.

If there is a single figure entry in the race, the dash will be run over eight laps and if there is double figures it will be a 10 lap race which will start in graded order but with no gaps between the grades and a clutch start.

BriSCA F2 STOCKCARS

No minors...no exceptions...This is where the big boys play
The fastest show on dirt at Mildenhall Stadium

Completing the One Wild Weekend bill are the sensational BriSCA F2 Stockcars who will do battle in their only two day event on shale in 2011 with Sunday's fixture carrying extra significance as it is the latest round of this years World of Shale qualifying series.

We are delighted to say that car numbers have remained very healthy at Mildenhall (and on shale in general) in 2012 and that the standard of racing this year at the Suffolk shaleway has been among the best we have ever seen at the stadium.

What is also pleasing is this has the makings of being the best attended meeting for the formula this season and we are hopeful of seeing ever more of some of the best open wheeled stockcar action you'll find in the sport.

Entry list

Following the lack of racing for the formula at Mildenhall in June, bookings for the Saturday night fixture have been opened to 75 cars, the majority of which have now been filled and so drivers looking to race at this meeting are encourage to book in asap although we should stress that a Grand National will not be scheduled on the Saturday night programme. The World of Shale qualifier on Sunday, July 29 remains open to all drivers and there is no need to book in prior to the event, all drivers will be welcome on the day

Below is the entry list for Saturday, July 28 where entries are restricted to the 75 drivers, the meeting on Sunday, July 29 is open to all drivers and therefore there is no need for drivers to book in, in advance.

Greyhound Racing

Anyone planning to travel to Mildenhall Stadium for One Wild Weekend and fancy making an early start to the weekend is invited to join us for an evening of greyhound racing on Friday, July 27.

RDC offers a great deal for our drivers with the greyhounds where they can get a reduced admission for themselves and their guests to the dog meeting.

By producing an ORC log book (or a Saloon Stockcar or BriSCA F2 Stockcar log book) drivers can get admission to the greyhound meeting for themselves and all their guests for just £2 a head which includes a race card. Normal admission for the greyhound meetings is £5.

The greyhound meeting will be a great way to kick off the weekend and these meetings at Mildenhall are always an excellent night out for the whole family. The Fenman bar will be open as will the fish and chip shop and the restaurant is open although tables must be booked, for more information call the stadium directly on 01638 711777.

Overnight camping

Overnight camping is available at Mildenhall Stadium across the weekend for both fans and drivers completely free of charge in both the car park and the pits.

Guests joining us on the Friday night may be interested to know there will be a Greyhound meeting at the stadium.

Alternatively if you are looking for overnight accommodation in the local area please contact RDC and we will be able to assist in some contact details for local Bed and Breakfasts and hotels.

Anyone planning on staying the weekend at the stadium is reminded that while we very much want everyone to enjoy themselves and have a great time, just because it is a two meeting doesn't give you an excuse to break the normal rules of the raceway.

Everyone is reminded that we previously had a handful of National Banger drivers serving 12 month ORC bans for fighting at a social event, not a race meeting, and the same will apply here so any physical violence or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated by any driver or their party (drivers don't forget you are responsible for those with you and again we have a further three bangers on 12 months bans because of the actions of their family members) while you are at the stadium.

The same also applied to criminal damage and vandalism to the stadium, something we have sadly seen in the past at these events and one of the reasons the two day meeting was dropped form the fixtures.

We also ask that there be no open fires (BBQs are fine) while you stay and to please keep noise to a reasonable level. Again we want everyone to have a great time but our problems over noise and local residents is no secret leading to the construction of the £40,000 sound barrier this winter. We currently have a great relationship with the local authorities over noise so let's not jeopardise that. On a similar note there is to be no engine noise from the end of Saturday's meeting until 11am on Sunday morning. Drivers who break this rule run the risk of being excluded from Sunday's meeting at the minimum and again drivers you are responsible for your cars.

On a more positive note we have entertainment booked for the Saturday evening in the Fen Man Bar, provisionally  from 11pm to 2am. The fish and chip shop will also be serving a breakfast menu on Sunday morning from 9 to 11am.
