Formulae racing at RDC

We have a variety of formulae racing at our tracks, the details of which can be found below:

Ministox: This junior formula is the ideal training ground for the Stock Car, Hot Rod or Banger driver of the future. All cars are based on the 998cc Mini, the engine is virtually standard and has a restrictor plate. The cars are fully ironed for driver protection, the driver range between 11 and 16 and this formula provides all the thrills and spills of traditional stock car racing

Bangerstox: Up to 1600cc front wheel drive limited contact formula which races at Dover only. A budget formula aimed for newcomers to get into the sport but also features a number of experienced racers who enjoy the division. The cars are all small family cars, like Ford Fiestas, Ford Escorts, Vauxhall Novas plus the odd Mini and Metro and others. All cars are fitted with a rollcage and smartly presented. Formally Hot Rods but new name for 2004 with light front and end contact only.

Super Rods: For the more experienced racer. Like Hot Rods, Super Rods only race at Dover with cars up to 2litre rear wheel drive. The most popular cars are the Mk1 and Mk2 Ford Escort and Ford Sierras. Cars are faster and the racing very close and exciting, run to non contact rules. All drivers in the formula must have previous racing experience before being granted a license. New drivers must race in the Hot Rods first before moving up.

National Saloon Stock Cars: They may look like a normal road car with big bumpers, but when you see the action you know they're something special. Built like tanks and used like tanks, driven by drivers who go through the opposition rather than round it. Drivers are licensed by the Saloon Stock Car Association of which RDC are one of the principal promoters.

Reliant Robins: They don't look like racing cars on first inspection, but these fantastic three wheelers provide all the fun and action that you could wish for. The formula was introduced at Mildenhall in 1993 and has grown ever since, but RDC remains the home of this fantastic formula. This formula has to be seen to be believed and regularly attracts media attention.

BriSCA F2 Stockcars: The descendants of the original Junior Ten formula which began at Tamworth in 1960. Nowadays the BriSCA F2's feature purpose built single seater racing cars with bumpering all round designed for contact racing. With the speed of the hot rods and the contact of traditional stock car racing, they provide all the open wheel action you could want. Most are powered by 2.0 litre Ford Pinto engines and provide close, fast racing on a reasonable budget.

National Bangers: Full contact racing is the name of the game where those who smash the opposition to pieces are just as big a hero as the race winner. Cars are usually MOT failures going out in a blaze of glory. Cars are fitted with a rollcage and a drivers doorplate plus other safety features to protect the drivers in the biggest crashes and fold-ups. Many Banger meetings end with a Destruction Derby where the last car running is declared the winner.
