The 2004 BBA Supreme Championship attracted another blockbusting entry of 108 bangers to Mildenhall on March 27 with 31 for the main event which included visitors from almost every major promotion including Westworld, Warton and CAMSO while the supporting cast included more guests from Incarace, TSR, Spedeworth, PRI and even CAMSO. Brinkworth put 249 Matt Frost into the inner wall as Harley took a pasting from 132 John Smare (Volvo estate) and 35 Peter Lewis as 31 Andas took a hard hit from 148 Ian Redden's smart Victor leaving him open to a portion from Hall. Wayne Harley took further punishment from 619 Karl Turnbull (Mk3) as Snare spun Andas en route to the win from Mann and 564 Mark Cooper.

A few less for the second heat with an early head-on between 446 Lee Greer and 466 Mark Hackett as 137 Lee Turner gave 936 Steve Roberts (Cortina estate) and 614 Dan Lynch (Sapphire) was hit head-on by 41 Paul Bearne (Bluebird) and Greer continued to T-bone 33 Wobby with the latter getting hit head-on by brother 34 Warren Burnham. Top paint from RDC's 364 Sean Winchester and 67 Sparky for the big race (Bull)

The Supreme was next with a fine field of 31 cars, 78 Lee Macey, 290 Jay Tomkins, 67 Mark Whittaker and 364 Sean Winchester collecting smart car awards while the Incarace draw ironically enough handed Incarace man 17 Nick Sweet pole. 67 Sparky set the ball rolling spinning 536 Anette Nicholls and 4 Dave Wilde (Bluebird) piled 53 Dave Palmer into the spun TSR pilot while a spun 47 Andy Davies was clobbered by 295 Graham Heywood and 78 Mad Mace and 57 Harry Rawlins removed Edmonds. The front running 811 Peter Winter retired before 9 Raymond Soer (2 door Cortina) put away 6 Mark Holdsworth (Volvo 740 estate) and 348 Sonny Sherwood. 282 Lee Treasurer (Bluebird) spun Rawlins to go third as Sparky took the lead from 17 the Bruce and 348 Mushy turned 443 Dave Harvey (Bluebird) into the inner wall. 22 Vincent removed Tomkins which also claimed 202 Mike Kilford and a spinning 36 Jimmy Carmoy (2 door Cortina) was T-boned by Annette Nicholls. 119 Davey Cox removed 282 Uglee to go third while the leading Sparky got caught in a back straight pile-up handing 158 Shane Davies the lead. However no sooner had he taken it up arch nemesis 617 Jack Overy turned it round and the two met in a thundering head-on on the home straight. 49 Billy King arrived to blow up Overy with a fine hit leaving 119 Cruncher to pick up the pieces and race to the win from a recovered Uglee, Vincent and Palmer. Tomkins ended the action by running 7 Colin Farley into 753 Billy Cunningham.

New Supreme Champion 119 Cruncher (Bull)

35 cars came first allcomers which started with 39 Napoleon taking a burial from 378 Steve Smith as 85 James Ellis jacked 313 Cully and 564 Coatie hit 251 Spider man on the nose. 417 Dan Davey then gave 566 Tommy Coleman (Capri) a stiff shot on the back straight shaking the latter and resulting in a stoppage. 712 Andrew Westgate (Bluebird) homed in on 116 Wanty on the restart as Coatie jacked Ellis only to cop one from Wanty in turn as Corsby took a big time T-bone from Andas on the road bend. Perrin buried 477 Amy Brown (Cavalier) as 249 Matt Frost assaulted Ellis with the latter then wasted by Wanty who was on opposite, Hall then zeroing in for a stiff T-bone on the Cream Team man. Hall was then attacked by Charlie Cunningham who pushed Hall into Lewis as Perrin took the win from Greer and 273 Kevin McClagish (Cortina) with just eight finishing.

35 again for the second allcomers with a spinning Vincent taking a head-on from Winchester right at the start before 4 Wildy buried Ashman and 117 Karl Dack gave the Bish a head-on. Roberts T-boned running mate 937 John Mallia (Bluebird) before 811 Pistol Pete caught 710 Andrew Donnovan (Audi coupe) in the door resulting in a stoppage for a shaken 710 Drew but not before Vincent blasted the British champ and 510 Alan Lewis hit Ashman head-on. 117 Kamakazi got things ago running in Snare with the latter copping one from 19 Joe Mullarkey (Mercedes 220 estate). Shorty then went in on 199 Jason Dack (Volvo) only to get wasted superbly by Kamazki which snapped the Victor in epic fashion. 331 Jason Jackson then stuffed the Bish as the race was stopped for Brinkworth who had gone in very hard on the top bend. Sadly the cutting equipment was needed to get Brinkworth from his car leading to a lengthy delay which resulted in the race being declared null and void.

148 Shorty's seriously snapped off Victor (Bull)

Due the delay the Accumulator didn't start until 11.30pm but still 34 came out for it and it was worth the wait including 439 Danny Sutton (Volvo) and 105 Dean Watson (Cortina estate) in their first race of the night. Stu Scarlett started with a hit on 753 Young Gun as Mullarkey blasted Harrison and 273 Mad Mouse ran in 321 Andy Newton with Garrod T-boning the TSR star as 9 Vakman went in on 171 Lee Osbourne and Mann met Harrison on the nose leaving the former open to a shot from Dack. A monster pile-up then formed on the top bend with Andy Davies getting leathered in it while Mullarkey jacked Edmonds. Cully then rolled in the midst of the blockage bringing the reds out. The race restarted with Lown hitting Shane Davies as Dack jacked Sutton and on the home straight welcome visitor 172 Simon Byrne met Young Gun in a firm head-on. Tomkins then jacked Vincent in the top bend pile-up, the European champion emerging from the pile-up to hit Garrod head-on before Vincent gave him a stiff revenge hit. Wobby and Kamakai went head to head-on with Garrod jacking the latter and getting out of the way to allow Shane Davies to destroy 117 with a wicked hit. Shane Davies then attacked Lewis while 37 Dave Lewis (Prelude) jacked Harrison leaving himself open to a top blitz from Garmo who was jacked hard in turn by Lown while Tomkins zeroed in on a helpless Garmo for a big T-bone. Stu Scarlett then pummelled Shane Davies with a couple of hits and Tomkins briefly stopping the leading King with a head-on. King the got caught up with Shane Davies allowing Scarlett to blast him with 133 Damien Whall joining in, After several hits, Scarlett expired first with Whall outlasting King to win the DD although King collected the race win for doing the most laps and Shane Davies took a best wrecker prize mainly for hit shot on Kamakazi.

Action from the Accumulator as 158 Davies wasted 117 Dack and 49 King and 133 Whall fight it out for the last car running honours (Bull)

The first BriSCA F2 Stockcar session of 2004 attracted a fine field of 62 cars with 27 out for the opener with 366 Mick Kemp the early pace setter while 744 Tom Smart and 871 Mark Simpson were among the early casualties before a back straight pile-up claimed 977 Dave Massey, 819 Phil Richardson, 643 Mark Whybra and 377 Darren Shaw with the latter recovering only for 606 Andy Palmer flying over him and into a spectacular double roll which brought the reds out although Palmer emerged ok, 284 Jody Griffin quickly took the lead on the restart as 196 Graham Young and 713 Martin Ford joined the list of spinners and 326 Johnny Hall grabbed the lead while 559 Bert Finnikin had quickly climbed into fourth before taking the lead with several laps still to go. A recovered Young was spun by Simpson as Smart fired Hall wide for second and later Simpson did the same to 70 Brian Shadbolt to take third and it stayed that way till flag fall, Finnikin winning from Smart and Simpson.

559 Bert Finnikin made a dominant return with a heat and final double (Wickham)

A slightly bigger field for a very problematic second heat which was stopped in the first couple of laps when a four car pile-up left 624 Kev Simpson and 892 Mark Johns locked together and stranded on the pits bend. There was another pile-up on the restart as 251 Claire Maynard spun 413 Lee Veall with 96 Mark King and 49 John Davies getting involved but they got another chance when 13 Andy Ford threw a wheel and the reds came out again. 975 Gwyn Miller led the restart with Maynard getting removed by 302 Jim Bamford and 145 Graham Mole went in hard by the pit gate but there was more drama as another wheel came adrift, this time from 782 Stuart Rolph and the reds appeared again with another complete restart called for. The fourth attempt didn't go to plan as 355 Dave Grindley failed to start but fortunately the next with Miller again taking the lead until a wheel came loose on his car but the wheel guard stopped it from going astray and Davies came through to win from 833 Rob Kaye and Lee Veall.

A spinning 533 Andy Kaye causes problems for 871 Mark Simpson and 702 Allan Cooper (Wickham)

With so many cars it was decided to run two consolations although in the end one would have probably been sufficent with the races attracting fields of just 20 and 14. Nonetheless 130 Daneil Ford led the first one way until loosing the spot to 784 Mick Griffin and Palmer spun Maynard. Martin Ford then got tangled with 162 Steve Featherstone and 609 Brandon Davies took it up and held on to win from a recovered Featherstone and Bamford.

Kemp led the second consolation away until loosing the advantage to 252 Rick Irving but in the end it was 925 Paul Wilson who won with 515 Alan Veall second after he survived a hit from 260 Anthony Winters which saw the latter spin himself with Andy Ford third.

25 of the 28 qualifiers returned for the final with Featherstone a very early retirement as 376 Darren Seneschall removed 656 Adam Joyce and 766 Richy Kemp made the early running while John Davies and Mark Simpson suffered early spins. Grindley then took over as Rob Kaye fired Seneschall towards the wall. Grindley the disappeared in a spin on the top bend allowing Finnikin a free pass through and he romped to his second win by a comfortable margin with Shadbolt getting the better of Andy Ford on the bend for third, 392 Mark Short keeping his head for a fine fourth.

The big three in the final,  70 Brian Shadbolt, 559 Bert Finnikin and 13 Andy Ford (Wickham)

With the unfortunate delay caused by the injury to Martin Brinkworth in the banger allcomers the Grand National didn't get underway until around 11pm but still 33 cars gathered for it. A top bend pile-up on the first lap claimed 379 Steven Cayzer, 496 John Cayzer, Shadbolt and Paul Wilson and later also 650 Mark Kiff before the race was stopped for a shaken Brandon Davies who had gone in hard with Findley on the back straight. Daniel Ford led for several laps on the restart until spinning and Seneschall picked it up and held his nerve to win, Finnikin a fine second from the handicap and Mark Simpson third.

Heat one: 559 Bert Finnikin, 744, 871, 70, 379, 326, 284, 613, 392, 81
Heat two: 49 John Davies, 833, 413, 702,355, 376, 37, 798, 656, 766
Consolation one: 609 Brandon Davies, 162, 302, 495, 606, 784, 130, 96, 624, 650
Consolation two: 925 Paul Wilson, 515, 13, 38, 782, 734, 533, 156, 260, 308
Grand Final: Finnikin, 70, 13, 392, 495, 744, 702, 355, 81, 38
Grand National: 376 Darren Seneschall, 559, 871, 702, 925, 156, 70, 495, 713, 433.

A strong nights racing only soured by the numerous race stoppages and the lengthy delay for Martin Brinkworth, who was given the all clear at hospital, resulting in an unavoidably late finish. Once again an incredible entry of bangers which meant even the generous format meant some drivers didn;t get as much racing as they would have hoped and something to address for next year's event. Nonetheless some lively stuff from the bangers with a fine title race and an epic Accumulator while the stockcars entered a lively performance which might have benefitted from a three heats and one consolation format rather than the one which was used.
